Has anyone added an after market oil pressure guage to their 22re? I have looked at a bunch of them and they all come with a 1/8" NPT fitting that wont work in the block. I had the auto parts store guy look up the sending unit and it says it is 1/8" ISO/BSP tapered. I havent been able to find one of these fittings anywhere. The auto parts store guys are useless and I called north sound and fitting in Everett and they said they will look into ordering one and never called me back. I wouldnt think this would be such a challenge.

LCE sells the fitting you are looking for. It's 1/8-28 BPT (British Pipe Thread) but I just use a brass 1/8-24 APT (American Pipe Thread) fitting and snug it down. Never a leak because the brass is softer than the cast iron block. As a matter of fact I'm doing exactly that today on my DD. :D

I second trashy's idea. worked great for me. I didn't even have to try and find one though, friend of mine had one collecting dust from a variety pack that he bought once upon a time.

Whats LCE?

Land Cruiser Engineering. HERE is the fitting I'm talking about.

I did in fact put an oil pressure gauge on my 78 the other day with a standard brass 1/8" pipe thread fitting and it doesn't leak just like I said it wouldn't. :D

I just did one on my truck yesterday and it works fine. The 1/8 is a little tough to start as it is almost too big. But once started it goes in great.

I also did the temp gauge too. Put in under the thermostat housing.

Many of the gauge manufacturers sell a conversion kit to use gauges with japanese autos. I think I bought mine at Schucks oreilly when I did the gauges in the Tercel wagon.
