Ok, so this is kind of a long shot, but are there any common places of failure as to why the carpet on the passenger side of my truck will be soaked wet after it sits for a while outside? Its not a daily driver, so its only when I HAVE to drive it, or when I take it wheeling. Yes, it sits in the rain, lol. Its a 1984 standard cab.

Its not coolant or anything like that, so I know its rain leaking into the cab from somewhere. I had a plug missing on the back wall of the cab behind the passenger seat, but thats been gone since before I owned it and Ive never had this problem. I figured maybe the water was running down the back of the cab and dripping in there based on how I was parking it so I went ahead and put a plug it. Dried it out, and bam. More water in the cab after a while. Ive had one of those "dry the moisture out of the air" buckets in there for a while, and that doesnt seem to help. It pulls a ton of moisture out, but obviously not enough. Doors seal up good, and its only the floor board below the seats on the passenger side for some reason. The carpet running down the firewall isnt wet, nor the door panels, or anything past the tranny hump.

My only thought was the windshield maybe, but like I said, I dont see how its getting down there. Any ideas?

I have this problem when it's really wet out. It comes out of the pass.'s vent. And it pours out when it does it. I don't know how to stop it, I just deal with it. It also makes its way through my sunroof sometimes when it leans to the pass. side.

I dont have a sun roof, but it started doing it when it was parked on a hill leaning towards the passenger side.

Which passenger vent are you talking about? The dash vents? Maybe the water is coming in from under the wiper cowl where the blower takes in air, and working its way in from there? I wonder if theres a drain for that intake area and its clogged?

It pours out from under the pass dash out of the vents themselves. Not sure exactly where, but I bet that drain is clogged in the wiper cowl.

Cowl (heater vents) or windshield. If it's the top of the windshield like mine just get the interior fogged up somehow and it'll be obvious where it's running down the glass.

Take your cowl off and look in there. Drain might be plugged and causing it to run in through the heater system. That and toyota's are famous for the pillar rusting out and leaking past the seal in the windshield.

I had one leaking once. Turned out to be a seam opened up in the well under the heater intake vent on the passenger side. Took the passenger fender off for access and calked the crap out of it. Leak went away.

I actually just went out to the truck not long after posting this, and with a flashlight looking for something else, I was able to see the reflection of the wet carpet where it was dripping down from the heater vents. Im gonna pull the cowl panel off in the next few days and have a look under there.

My guess is when you take off the cowl your going to find it full of pine needles, leaves, etc... plugging up the drain. Clean that crap out, and your good to go...
