So I just got my doubler kit for my 85 Runner. I figure, no point tearing that far into it w/o taking the tranny out and replacing the clutch at the same time... the current clutch is old and doesn't feel quite to my liking.

SOOooooo, I don't want to drop a bunch of $$ on some special high dollar ceramic unit...I just want a normal clutch. Here at the local parts house they have standard Fenco/Dynapak units for $100.00 bucks, Beck/Arnley units for $130.00, or a Perfection Clutch set for $78.00... or Trail Gear has the Aisin units for $150+shipping.

The last clutch I put in a Toy was a $200+ dollar Hays Super Duty and I wasn't impressed.

Opinions? What say you?

Beck Arnley's a good clutch--and if you're putting in a doubler; the stress will be less on the clutch when geared down!!! I wouldn't go for El-cheapo!!!You'll get what you pay for___CRAP!!!

Spend a little more dough on a good one its worth it, I had a brand new shitty one in my runner with duals and managed to blow the friction disk into about a million pieces.

I ended up ordering a LUK.

I had a LUK in my old Chevy and loved it compared to some of the other cluthes I had in it. I hope the Yota one is as good!

LUKS are good also.....what's funny is I just finished a clutch on a '01 Xterra at work--the psi plate went south on the first clutch after only 3 months(carquest--supposedly Sach's... We ordered clutches from 3 different suppliers, (were having trouble finding one worth a crap); when they came in, all three had Valeo discs, and Koyo throwouts, but the Psi Plates were all alittle different;went with the best looking one(made in Japan, the other two were from Korea), which was Exedy (from IMC); worked like a charm!!!
