the toyota stuff is hard to reuse or adapt to. You can buy a harnes at the dealer but its only a short piece of it. The stock competer relay thing is kinda useless too.

You can wire it up with two relays and a three terminal switch. It is a little bit of wiring but is doable for sure.

I have done a couple for folks. I can build you a harness setup, kind of a plug and play style. PM me for details.:awesomework:

that switch setup sounds great, i'll do that when/if i install it. I have this 97 4runner, and i'm going to take out the elocker, and want to make sure i don't leave anything in there i will need.

Can i replace a v6 elocker rear with an open 4cyl? assuming the gear ratio's are the same

yes, but you will have to weld/fill in the notch in the housing from the shifting fork.:awesomework:

If you can get the gasket off in one piece or at least a chunk big enough (around fork notch) you can use it for a cut pattern on the housing it ever goes into.:awesomework:

i'm more worried about getting it out right now than installing it, the thing is i need to make the 4runner drive normal again afterwards, so it's good i found out i will have a gaping hole that needs to be welded up before i slap in an open diff.

and now i know i'll need to convert it to cable, or make my own harness with a switch and relays. :awesomework:

Mission Accomplished:cheer:

if you scroll to the bottom there are some links to wiring diagrams and install info into a standard 8" housing.

thier diagrams are full of uneeded circuts. Its a normal current reverse like doing door lock relays. Only the diff has a ground interupt switch so it cant be burned up if held on.

I did use thier diagram to decipher the stock wire functions and then simplified it from there.

Tons of great info there, just so much its overwhelming. I printed about 11 pages form that link and gave it to the last guy I installed an Elocker for. He was sure he could get the factory harness and just find a relay computer in a yard and plug it all in!!!!!:haha::haha:
I told him to let me make a simple harness, he persisted that stock toyot wiring was the way to go. It took him 2 weeks to give up on the toyota dealer and OEM harnesses. Then it took a week of him staring at the overcomplicated and three different ways shown to wire them before he gave up on that.
They suggest you find a double pole, double throw switch, then a strange way to wire it.
NORMAL GEARHEADS WILL DO ANYTHING TO AVOID USING RELAYS! It is was way simple with two relays, not the switch thing they recomend.
