So I bought a 83 Toyota with dual cases and it was a flat bottom setup. I scrapped the truck to put all the parts on a 4runner. I believe the engine mounts were stock and it looks like the only thing they did was cut out the tranny tunnel and raise it up. The firewall and tunnel were stock back to about below the radio inside the truck. I didnt look at it good enough to remember the pinion angle. Wouldnt the tranny and transfercase be at an upwards angle and then the rear driveline be at an obsurd pinion angle? Does anyone know much about doing a flatbottom conversion? Check out the picture of the crossmember I have. It looks pretty prfessional except for the welds so Im not sure if it is aftermarket or not.

That's a front range off road plate from the looks of it. You can buy just the center plate and build your own crossmember on it. I wouldn't use it as is, the tube will break off towards the bushings in a very short amount of time.

As for the motormounts that's easy, just loosen the 17mm nut, rotate the cases to where you want them and tighten it back down. Mine has been like that for about 6 years with a chained down driver side mount. :D

wtf are you talking about? I dont remember a 17 on toyota motor mounts?

The frame mounts could have been stock and the engine side mounts modified to sit lower too.

17 or a 19 fawk it's been awhile since I messed with them... The nut that holds the rubber mount to the engine. All you need to do is loosen it and turn the cases up where you want them and crank it back down. Done that on all 4 rigs I've flat bellied.

Is the 4runner really that much longer of a wheel base? The whole thing is only 15' from bumper to bumper. I figured it was the same as a standard cab short bed. I will be running toyota rears in the front and wagoneers in the back for lift.
