About to put a high pinion diff from an 80 series cruiser in the front of a mini truck axle and want a locker instead of welding it. Will a spartan locker from a v6 third work for this? They don't list it on their website for a cruiser, but I noticed they both use the same part number for a yukon grizzly. Has anybody done this?

Re:

No, HP 3rds have a bastard stock carrier. Uses v6 size bearings, but only 2 pinion spider gears. So they use 4cyl lunch box lockers.

A cheap tough setup is to put a v6 lunch box locker and v6 carrier into the HP 3rd

Thanks. Just got it all pulled apart and thinking about what I'm going to do with it. Broke a tooth on the ring gear the last trip.

What locker do you have now?
Replacing a welded 4 cyl diff that has 2 chipped teeth and needs pinion bearings. Just didn't want to weld it because turning this thing sucked when it was welded with 42" iroks.

Good info Jamie, I had considered a detroit and grizzly, but didn't want to spend the money.
