toyota knuckle shims

I'd start with the same number and thickness of shims that were originally there when you took it all apart. Then adjust accordingly from there

yeah thats what i was thinkin but he said that the had it apart before and left some shims out cause they were bugered up so we dont know what the right number is

I'm curious about this too. Everyone i talk to just says put back what you took out. But what are you suppost to do when you have all new parts? Because i have brand new six shooter knuckles, T-bearings, bobby longs, etc and im guna be putting my axle together pretty soon

Technically, the right way to do it is either use the Toyota SST to center the knuckle top-to-bottom, or come up with your own method of centering it.

The tool is stupid expensive, and the end result of not centering it is that you'll wear out inner axle seals a little faster, so most people just throw a couple shims on top, a couple on bottom, and adjust as necessary to get a decent preload on the trunion bearings. Marlin seals still seal with quite a bit of deflection, so I'd go that route and worry about more important things.

yeah i mean i can make it work, just always been curious about the correct way to do it. Isnt it somewhat hard on your axles if its not centered well?
