Looking to build mine or possibly have one built.
Who ? What? Where ? For the most power out of
A 22r on propane

Bump am interested in this also. How much power can you get
out if a 22r on propane?

Not enough to justify the cost IMO. If Enginbuilder (or whatever he goes by) is still around he has the best bangs for the buck.

Just had one built back stock block - head and crank went to machine shop new bearings oil pump clutch ect ect $1,295.00

we just spent $2500 on our 22r on propane, according to Andrew at lc engineering
we got about 200 horse out of it, I will not build another one at that cost. going ecotec
on our next one

blow through it with a turbo an your problem will be fixed for horsepower

I had aspirations to build that... Even gathered up a propane kit and a stock turbo motor (already has the oil and coolant passages for the turbo)... sold the propane kit

turbo motor is for sale if anyone is interested.

Did you assemble the motor or the machine shop cus I rebuilt my 22re 650 that the crank turned new bearings, new oil pump head checked new intake valves and resurfaced, block, rod and pistons, cam checked, new timing set and full gasket set. Only thing I didn't do was a new clutch mine was only two months old . Just seems steep to me

3rz is deffinately the way to go way more hp and torque over a pos 22r I've blown up 4-5 22r's never had any problems with the 2.7 I had drove them all the same!

Re: Toyota motors

I built my 22r myself, had the crank turned, head worked, bored it .40 over and had pistons on the shelf out of a crate swap I done for a guy. I still had over a grand in that bitch. I won't do it again, I'd probably go with the 3rz but I really want the 2l-te. You can get those jdm on eBay for 2 grand or a little more with a trans already on it.

They quit building the 22r for a reason. I know where some heads, bottom ends, fuel injection systems, and transfer case parts are if your intrested.

Because people like us beat on them like they owe us money. ;D I haven't blown one up yet, but have given 2 of them all kindsa hell.
Jasper has an alternative fuels division that might could build one but it would probably cost a metric ton of benjamins.

Hell just do a 2jz swap outta a supra they make adapters to run damn near any GM tranny and stock bottom end with dual springs in the head will make 500 HP on boost safely I've personally rode in 1 with a 3 speed and another with a power glide and both were fast as hell

we will be building my 22r this weekend, I will take pictures and do a build wright up
on what we did as far as machine work and parts, a lot cheaper than a lc engineering motor.

No the machine shop did not assemble it the guy I took it to to build it did after they did the machine work I called around and asked a couple bout it they were all within $100 dollars or so of each other the guy that did it has a good reputation and will stand behind it if anything goes wrong

Im actually building this Yota buggy for my son he wanted to use the 22R motor

Don't let me drive anything you own with a 22r then. Last one I pulled out of my yota buggy blew more oil out of the airfilter than it burned propane and was new when I put it in.
