I have a 2001 Chev K2500 with the Duramax/Allison. I am currently looking to purchase a trailer brake set-up on it. My question is does anybody know if there is some sort of exhisting wiring on the vehicle that can be used, or does all new wiring need to be ran. I don't really have a problem running new wires, but if there is somewhere in the factory harness I can plug into that would be great. Anybody have experience with this? Thanks!

it should have factory wirring, I'd have to look tonight when i get home for the color of the plug and exact location but there is a plug under the dash. I've seen harnesses at Napa and I bought mine at camping world that plug directly into the OEM harness and depending on your style cotnroller will either plug directly into the controller or you can cut/splice your new harness into the controller's pigtail.

Under the dash by your left foot is the panel.

Buy the harness and brake controller and plug in. The proper harness will only plug in one place.

I recommend a Prodigy brake controller.:awesomework:

Dirtyturds don't have a plug hanging loose under the dash---it's an empty hole inside the relay box below the steering wheel near the left kick panel (as mentioned before!)----just buy the plug&play harness, and well.......plug it in!!!:D Xwhatever on the Tekonsha Prodigy!!!:awesomework: :awesomework:

i belive its the 2nd plug from the left on the panel under the dash on drivers side, the cover will tell you exactly, and the prodigy is nice,i bought a second quick mount so i can switch the controler to my other rig also, back and forth so i only had to buy one controller.

Thanks for all the help guys! Kinda nice asking a question on a forum and not just being called a retard, and told to search, like some other forums that I know of. Thanks again!!

thats weird, i have an 05 suburban z71 and didn't have to put fuse in and my brakes work just fine. i checked them in the gravel and on pavement??
