Ok, I have two leads from the brakes on the trailer to connect to the truck (7 pin connector). Which pins should the brakes wires connect to. Electric brakes (blue) and ground??

been there already. currently I have the red, which i am assuming is power, connected to the electric brakes pin of my connnector. But when i manually activate the controller i get little change in the voltage across that pin and ground. I can hear the the brake 'activating' but the brake are really weak.

Have you checked the actual output voltage from your controller? Mostly, brake controllers are magic little boxes to me, but I seem to recall that mine is way smarter than me and will not deliver full braking force when the vehicle's sitting still even if I manually activate it.

My point is that the controller may only be sending a small voltage to the brakes under your 'test' circumstances.

i will double check this...but i thought that you could manually activate it.
