I took my trailer in to have the brakes fixed, I have a dual axle trailer and only one axle has brakes. The guy says it will cost $800 to fix my current brakes and $1100 to fix what i have and add brakes to the other axle. Am i getting screwed. :kissmyass:

omg!!!!!! That sounds really silly. Do you have just the basic electric brake setup on one axle?

So rip the brakes off the front axle and tell him you want brakes put on both, if my math is right that should be $600 bucks.

well they actually did the work already(pissed about that)....$400 total without new drums... i will live with that

you could almost buy a new trailer with both axels having brakes for that price.

do it yerself its only brakes.

my trailer has the flanges to mount the second set and wires already ran. just a matter of buying the assembled backing plates and install. seems easy.

I just replaced mine for about $80. per wheel for new backing plates with all the hardware from south tacoma brake. even bought a new breakaway batt and switch that came with a charger for about $40.00 from billybobs all said and done less than $500. for all new brakes on the trailer(both axles)
