I am starting my trailer build tomorrow. I have axles without perches welded on and am wondering how much clearance needs to be between the tire and frame on these? I know when turning sharp there is some flex towards the Fram due to the binding between axles. Would 2 inches be sufficient?

Go look around on Big Tex's website- they have drawings for all their trailers online. I have borrowed their dimensions for several trailers I have built.

The more your axles are spread the more your notice tire deflection. 2 inches seems a little close.

Re:

Standard 3500# car hauler axles are 95" WMS. Decks are 82-84" wide. If you want to go wider on the deck you might could gain a little room by running shallow offset wheels but then your looking @ not being able to borrow your buddies spare when you have a blow out.
