what kinda adapter hooks a toyota transfer case to a tranny with a five bolt (upside down pentagon) tail pattern. its not a chev tranny adapter.

it looks similar to a toyota case to th350 adapter but has five bolts instead of four. I will post a pic asap.:cheer:

Factory L43 4 speed side shifter to t-case adapter. The L43 was a 2 wheel drive trans with that adapter put on it with a spud coupler to the input on the t-case. The input splines on the case go all the way up to the input bearing but the minor diameter of the splines is larger farther back on the input. You'd have to grind the splines a bit to put a factory L43 case behind a later model trans.

Any more questions on yota's? :D

I do have the case for it. and it is an early model with small driveshaft flanges.

what if I replace the input with a 23 spline unit? it is going behind a tacoma 6cyl 5 speed. the marlin adapter I have for the taco tranny uses the 23 spline stuff so I have a trail gear 23 spline shaft for the front case. should work? right?

I also have another early oddball. I have a toyota manual tarnny married to a dana 20. I puled it out of a old toyota conversion (1977) 4x4 hilux.

Yes the case is the same internally. The flanges are a direct swap with later model stuff.. hell even a mini truck diff flange will go onto the t-case. Just the dust shield is different.

I can't remember who it was that did those older conversions.. cool stuff though. :D

wolverine.
I parted out a mazda conversion once that had a built up pinto engine from leftover spannaway speedway stuff. sat kinda tall stock. dana 30 front with welded on crossover arms, the toyota in front and the mazda behind the axle. ha ha, crossover steering ahead of thier time!

Ahh wolverine thats right! Cool old stuff for sure. There was a pathfinder conversion in the wrecking yard in my home town. 2wd th350 with a ford 205 behind it. The adapter was about a foot long for the output shaft... Goofy looking ****.

I parted out a chev4x4 van that had that same adapter, it hung from above not on a crossmember. the tranny went in a chreroke cheif with a chev motor. used a th350 from a 2wd also. A friend had the van for years and the tranny went out on the way to the dunes and he told us to bring him a 2wd tranny. after arguing with him for ever he said just bring it! Ill be damned he put it in on the side of I-5 and it fit perfect.
