Ok I have a 1984 Toyota 4x4 SR5 with the 22R, 5spd tranny, and stock T-case.

What all do you have to remove/take apart to pull the exhaust from the end of the manifold back? And the other thing is, how the heck have you guys been dropping your tranny/transfer case to replace the clutch? You can't just let it fall to the ground.:redneck:

The exhaust unbolts below the manifold. If the bolts are seized, You could just unbolt the manifold from the head, it might be easier. 22R exhaust is a pretty simple design.

When I did my clutch, I undid the tranny bolts to the engine, then the four crossmember bolts. I undid the front and rear driveshafts and dropped the whole tranny/t-case with a jack.

As for the clutch question....Take the shifters out, take both drivelines out, all wires going to trans/t-case and clutch slave and just move the trans/t-case back far enuf to work on the clutch...You may have to remove the bell housing as well.

Are you sure you need to unbolt the exhaust to remove the transmission? I cant remember, I know you need to unbolt the antivibration clamp at or around the bellhousing.
