U-bolts and blocks

blocks are bad ...um'k

if you cant get springs... shackles or AAL would be way better than blocks

What is/are 'AAL'?

Now, I am going to put a 4" lift on the IFS, but I don't have the parts for the rear, yet?

Still kinda new to this lifting thing, so you can treat me as a total noob when it comes to this.

Add a leafs. I have an aal and extended shackle on the back of mine. Pretty much made up 3" of lift.

I think I'm going to have to see how one of those work/look... I know I can get the parts, the local 4x4 shop has them, I just want to see how 'neat' they look. 'Neat' being, not looking like something someone threw together off the bench.

it'll look fine, just avoid blocks if you can... shane and i used 2 sets of stock tacoma springs to make one set. they rode great and flexed better than the OME springs that ben had at one time. if you use another pack to make a set, you need new ubolts and center pins.

*as you start to notice lifted trucks, pay attention to the full size rigs with 20" wheels... seems they all have 6" blocks in the rear :redneck:

here's my taco with them installed: 3" front and 3" rear... you can get the extra inch with shackles if you need 4"

on this run in '04, a 1" block cost us a 6hr recovery.... ask shane and ben how much they liked me that day :D

*shane may still have the video... you can hear the loud "pop" that was the block shattering

OMG!

Okay, I want to see what your spring sets look like. Mostly because I'm not sure what you mean to 'use two sets to make one'.

"Blocks are for building walls."

Seems most of the rigs that have those blocks only go 'off road' to go up someone's driveway. Otherwise know as 'Pavement Princesses'.

I also thought the blocks were solid, not hollow. :scratchhead:

Can't wait to see the video...

we used my messed up set (the ones in the pics) and the stock ones of off ben's taco (he had replaced them w/OME 3" springs)

i had a 1.5" AAL by pro comp or rancho (cant remember) and used two springs out of the messed up pack. (kept stock shackles)

we cut one of the longest ones to fit in between the longest and 2nd longest of the stock pack we were gonna use for the truck. then same thing with one about mid-way through the pack, the AAL was on bottom... we didnt use the overload spring 'casue i had the ride height i wanted.

we had to test fit 3 or 4 times with different springs to get the height we wanted but it was a pretty easy job.

i think the ubolts were some leftovers i previously had on my '97 taco and they worked for us (they were not the stock ones) and i picked up new center pics for a few bucks. you can find stock spring packs pretty easy, most guys doing SAS's will give them away.

you'll need a C clamp when you take the spring packs apart.

we thought they'd be stiff but they weren't.... they rode/flexed really good for a $0.00 fix

if shane remembers anything i forgot to mention i am sure he will chime in... he helped me put the pack together.
