In the ultimate off-road TV show, what would you like to see?

I'm about format... Would you like to see brief location profiles, interviews and history---but mainly wheelin?

A friend and I have an idea for a pilot show... My wheels are spinning so I figured I'd open the floor for input. thumb.gif

yes, info about the area. Lodging, camping, eating info since not every place has a campground or one worth staying at.
Locals that know the trails or area.
people riding said trails, showing different difficulties....since not everyone has tons and big tars...

hmmm, lemme think for a bit

I'm thinkin less talking than that new GAY Rick Russell show...

We have the contacts and guidelines for a pilot for Outdoor Channel...

This idea is based around more wheelin, less jibjab... With well built rigs doing crazy stuff... because IDGAF about a jeep rubicon on 35's or a stock toyota cruising moab...

Hit the hardcore ****, find people ready to be the local hero and tear their mess up for the camera's ... short clips of hard action..

Of course you have got to capture the "lifestyle" aspect... I mean, **** everytime we wheel a weekend trip there is night life or "festivities" Dont focus on the booze mind you but catch the good times with Barbie Jeep races, Fitty floggin and general mayhem !

Thanks P, that's pretty much exactly what I had in mind. They are moving quite a bit of emphasis to off-road motorsports and lifestyle and now would be a good time to move on a pilot show...

Hardcore trails runs and some cool tech stuff. Oh yeah, you need a fine as chick also!

a bro ho for sho laughing1 :woody:

We've got some ideas... And funding just became a reality. Just gotta come up with a solid plan before quitting my job

And I know it doesnt need to be said, but please try to keep on the hush about this, I posted this in private forums because I value y'all's input--but I do not want to look stupid if we hit a roadblock like Dan did with their TV pilot.

I was just giving you some general ideas. I love the idea of the hard core, rev limiter bouncin, bug smashin, wheelin...but not everyone is....the rock crawler and rock motorsports is definately getting quite big right now and it is a good time for something like this. capturing the nightlife is definately part of the lifestyle.
get it Rob....GOOD LUCK! :drinkers: when you make it big the beers are on.........................YOU! :flipoff1: :drinkers:

Thank you, I definetly value the input. I guess I just was more on the side of Xgames didn't make it big in the late 90's by talking about the restaurants and hotels near the competition site :flipoff1:

I generally fast-forward Extreme 4x4 just to see the wheeling segments.

Adding comp footage is good as well. Show the extremes.

Lots of Expedition guys out there that like the pack it in/pack it out stuff.

I enjoy the format of Extreme 4x4 because I like to see them working on stuff, I just wish the wheeling segments were cooler and more frequent. Definately don't pull a Dan and post your chickens before they hatch. That will make you look like a dumbass :flipoff1:

I think a show based on going out with different wheelin' groups and shooting the insane wheelin' they do would be cool. Have a Tinbenders show, have a ColeWorx show, an Aetna show, a Hardline Show(with barbie jeep'n), a Blacksheep show, etc... Make it fast-paced so it would keep the attention of the average person, no crawling unless it ends up with a sick rollover. ;D We need an entertaining wheelin' show, not educational!

Kinda what I was thinking, each trip is a segment highlight clip, maybe 2 trips a show. 22 minutes to fill (30min minus ads)...

I personally don't like the tech shows at all--although I'll admit Xtreme is getting much better. I think you could do segments differently to showcase different builders--like a builder's spotlight 3-4 min segment w/ interviews and history.

I would say grassroots type wheeling with a mix of comp stuff thrown in. Kind of look at the format that everyone enjoys on the pages of Crawl and bring it to the screen. Crawl has local wheelers that everyone can relate to wheeling trails anyone has access to for the most part. Not a lot of big budget rigs. But turn the page and there is a section on comps and 6 figure budget rigs. Take that format and apply it with a video camera and you will have a success. **** the campfire songs and drunken antics, that is only entertaining to those that are doing them. Leave the chit chat to a minimum.

Seriously just like great vid's and good shows everywere. the key is TONS AND TONS of footage and then let the editing take it to the next level. You gotta emphasize on the editing to make this kinda thing gold.. Thats been key to everything thats been succesful, you can have a few minutes of badass stuff but if you cant keep a flow then the show is gonna blow.

CRUSTY DEMONS is a prime example... those things are so fast paced and keep going the entire show... I know your talkin about a series type thing but you gotta stay fast paced to hold interest. Be it tech builds or trails or comps. Hit the good **** and move fast to more good ****. The people that will enjoy and be loyal to the show will be people for the most part that have been there done that. So keeping it real will be the biggest thing.

( total brain storm outloud... take it for what its worth ) Good luck I wanna see this come to life for you bro !!! :woody:

AGREED!

A good friend that will be a business partner in this venture(given we jump in head first) works in venice right now for 2 different production companies, has done work for quicksilver and several other extreme sports companies in the past. Agreed the bling is in the editing and that is something that will make or break it. Agreed also on fast paced "more killer, less filler" kinda like fuseTV. Few quick interviews with substance help break things up as well.

I wana see people destroy there junk, sorta like what happens in the afternoons of any big ride once people have had a few and don't care anymore.
