My 91 Jeep Cherokee came with A/C. Being an older rig it, of course, doesn't work very well...and I don't use it anyway. What Washington native doesn't just roll a window down and enjoy the clean air. Anyway, I've already started gathering pieces to turn the A/C pump into an air pump, which I will get more use out of. My question is this. How would an A/C condensor work as an aux. auto tranny cooler. I figure it's already in the right place, it pretty much acts as an oil cooler in it's normal job and I would get much more use out of it as a tranny cooler so why not try it. I figured I'd get the thoughts of all the best 4x4 gearheads around who communicate on this website. If it would be in my best interest to just sling the condensor in the weeds and buy an aux cooler just let me know. Thanks for your input.

Is everything still in place? Why not just get it charged and leave it alone? Even if you don't use it in the summer, it's still nice to have the window defogger actually work in the winter.

Don't do it. It's not designed for such use. Have I seen it done? yes. Does it work? No. If it had more flow capacity Maybe.

Ditch the condenser and add a good "stacked plate" design trans cooler.
