Walker Valley December 10th Work Party

David, Thanks for posting something up here! I got your email. Maaay be able to show, but don't count on it, as I have not been around the house much in the last couple weeks! Lots of catching up to do here...:awesomework:

I haven't gotten many people to confirm their attendance this weekend...

We should only be "working" for a few hours which means there will still be lots of time for you all to hit the trails in the afternoon!

It would be really nice to get a couple 4x4s with winches to help us yard some logs around to create a durable blockage at the small stream that we need to keep folks out of.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to call me. Thanks!

I am a maybe at this point, might have a meeting with a real estate agent on purchasing a home but wont know till tomorrow afternoon

There has been some further incursions since this tank trap was blocked. This is the stream that needs further blocking:

THAT's where the issue is??? The waterbars/tanktraps are blocked off bigtime... Where is the trail gonna run then? And last time I went thru there, there was no real issue with it... And you heard it straight from the horse's mouth---that's not catagorized as a stream! :haha:
I see a major revamp of this area in it's future....:stirpot:

i thaught the solution to that problem was the HUGE pile of stumps and brush they pute at the entrance of the tank traps....rendering it impassable. :scratchhead::eeek:

Yep, what I thought---but apparently there's something else goin' on there...not sure what tho... The last time we went thru there, it was still blocked off...

Yah well exactly what I predicted happened.... =P

The problem is people want something difficult. I suggested we block off the river crossing portion, (aka move the stumps 50ft forward.. that won't happen now) and make a little rock feature on the ledge that separates the tank traps from the trail.

Instead, the main entrance was blocked, so people went behind it, off the ledge, and through the water -- because its more difficult.

It'd be nice if DNR thought these things through a little more. People like obstacles, and if there is anything that looks harder (although I don't think it really qualifies), they will do it.

But it should be a fairly easy fix, assuming you can find some downed timber there -- its somewhat sparse.

I slept good last night. and thanks to Boyboy, Oneshot, and the whidbey island boys for the 3 hour tour. That made my whole day. :awesomework:

Scott I still think you could have sone it :stirpot::corn::fawkdancesmiley:
