Walker Valley upcoming logging

Quick update...

The bid was won by Hampton Tree Farms, Inc. They have until Sept 2013 to complete the logging.

As for trails:
Recreation Trail Cleanout
At the completion of logging operations near the Muddled Meanderings and Cavanugh trails, Purchaser shall repair any damage to and clean out all logging debris from recreational trail(s).

It doesn't say anything about lower mainline, which is somewhat concerning. hopefully our skirting near the edge will be okay. And knowing how roads are built, we might get a nice challenge getting onto and off of the road :redneck:

So this will affect ST more than us?

Just talked with Kris McCall from Hampton.. Great guy by the way. He said they 'might' build the road this fall, but won't be looking at logging until 2012.. I mentioned it expired in 2013, and he said.. ohh well it might even be delayed until then!

So we'll have this trail at least through the summer. And he also said they're more than willing to use their equipment to help clear the trail and 'bring it back to what it was' .. "We're only interested in the trees!"

So it sounds like Marty needs to talk with him about the ST trails, but this will probably all be discussed at the focus group meeting.

Lastly, regarding the road: "They come in pretty quick" .. he wouldn't be surprised if one weekend were there, and the next weekend the road was done. Its very quick. We can probably even get them to clear off any trees that might block the intersection as well.

In all, very happy news today!

That name sounds familiar...

Is he Hampton's forester?

Also, I believe Hampton doesn't have any logging equipment, what they do is buy the timber rights, then contract a logger to log it.

That is good news!
I just hope that you didn't step on any toes within DNR regarding contacting the forester directly, possibly affecting our working relationship with them...

can i get a link?:redneck:cheers, b

It's hanging on my wall. You have to be "one of those guys" to get it.:fawkdancesmiley:

Its not much different then the map you can get at the Kiosks, just more detail on seasonal/non-seasonal streams.
