When I was loading the Jeep on the trailer the other day (before I had drivelines) I tried to load it using the winch to drag it up on the trailer well it just didn't work.

So I pulled it all apart:

I think I found the issue but I am not sure...

The little gear turns freely which I do not think it should?

I think it is called the carrier Assembly, Stage 1... I guess I will be making some calls in the morning.

If that is the last planetary set the gear is suppossed to turn. Is it splined for the drive shaft? (looks like a big allen key) If so, this is suppossed to turn. Check and make sure that all of the gears move freely, and that it is shifting properly. Sometimes the colar on the shifter gets crud in it and stops working.

This is stage 1 or the first set right on the motor. I think your talking about stage 3.

Mine did that. I just put a few tacks down with the welder and it was better than new. If I remember it was not even welded in stock, just sat in some crimped stamped steel thingy.

I will see if I can take a closer pic now that it is cleaned up but I think it was welded like spot welded no filler metal just arc and fused the gear and the plate together but it didn't hold. Mike from Warn is hooking me up on Monday with the replacement part and a seal kit...
