when i weld up my ballistic joints to the link, am i in need of paranoia about warpage?
it will be getting welded to 3'16ths square tube, and itself is about 5/16ths-ish(.320 wall)at it's thickest point inside the joint....i do not want to make it out of round somehow.

i just figure to keep the screw in ring , in the joint , so that it could help?am i on the right track?
pointers?suggestions, etc....cheers,brian

Tack it up in several places before you start to weld. Put a small weld on one side, and balance it out with another weld on the opposite side. Do it in 3 passes, then put one on the radius of the part. It shouldn't move. Where are you located? :redneck:

i figured on tackin the corners, then goin in full tilt.....and at 43 bucks apiece, not a huge loss if it does warp...
i just want to do it right:Dthanks:awesomework:

i am in spokane.cheers, brian

You know it's not mine and as your in Spokane just weld away if it warps what does any one care on this board they don't need to buy you a new one....

But Warping metal should be a big concern but if you set the welder up properly for the metal thickness and weld in a proper manner as Jeepasaurusrex suggested and allow some time for cooling between welds you should be fine...

also maybe make up a test piece to help... first to see if your pattern and welder settings will cause warping.

right, test piece would be good...i should have bought three joints then....oh well..
just tryin to pick it up, and build something for my self....thats all.

do you have specific experience with this joint?maybe i should have asked that....cheers, or not, brian

I would also leave the washer in the back of it if you can. I just welded mine to the links and they where fine left the screw in ring in it and the washer.
