Theres a little black plastic box in the engine compartment of my truck, on the driver's side fender. It attaches to the air cleaner hose thing on it's left hand side and doesn't seem to go anywhere else from there. Waht is it and why is it there?

I would like to use the space for a second battery setup but if it's something that I need to have in the truck....

22r?
If so it's a "muffler" for the intake.
pretty much useless.

If it's injected, it's the air flow meter, and you have to have it.

I plan on eventually running two batteries to power auxiliary equipment(lights, winch, fan(s), tools, etc.). Sorry that I forgot to mention what truck I've got, it's an '84 Toyota with the 22R. So is the general consensus that I don't need it or is that just rix?
