Why do people think it is acceptable to call/text/email and offer someone a third of the asking price for something they are selling??? Have people been brainwashed by watching ass monkey garage to the point they think it's ok? People are really lucky they do that **** over the phone. If I list something for sale (say a car) for 1600$, what the **** makes them think I'd take 500$ for it. I mean really!!! The low balling seems to be a trend lately. I see it on here too. A couple weeks ago I commented on some **** hole that offered a guy 40% of what he was asking for his item. I can't remember what it was now, but it doesn't matter if he was selling plug ****ing nickels, they are his and he can ask whatever he wants. He may not sell them for what he is asking but it's his right to ask it. I guess I just don't understand people's ****ing logic. Are they trying to catch someone hard up for cash or play big time cock sucker business man? It just chaps my ass. I was just curious how many others are as annoyed by this as I am. Rant over!!
So who tired to jew you down on a price....

Just know I have this damn dog for trade on the bouncer.

It's circumstancial. If I saw an '83 Escort "needs work, but does run on ether" for $800, am I wrong for offering $300 which is about $50 more than scrap price?

I really do want a non-running '83 Escort, if ya know of one.... :****:

I would MUCH prefer someone to offer me a stupid low amount, vs asking "What's your bottom dollar?"

That **** kills me.

Agreed. I automatically assume that someone asking me that is playing games and not serious. I actually quit responding to a buyer when that question comes out. Grow a pair and make an offer!

Whats even better than that...Trying to sell a truck right now. Guy texted me a month ago asking all kinds of stupid questions that could be answered by looking at the Toyota website. Stuff like "Does it have leather? What is entune?" Google that **** man. Fast forward to today....same guy texts me. What is your bottom dollar? Really? Despite the fact that the add says in all caps in 2 different places, price is firm. I took the response mentioned earlier....hadnt really thought about it. What did you have in mind? Guy says it is out of his price range and doesn't even make an offer. Stop kicking my tires dude. You are rubbing off the tire shine. :flipgotcha:

LMAO, I was just about to post something similar....

I have an ATV on craigslist... A guy txt me about a week ago and offered me some sorta shitty looking enclosed. Told him know. Then Friday he txts back and asked interested in trades? Reply "Not for a shitty enclosed" he laughed though. Said guess I've already tried ya...haha

As to the original. I don't really care either way. It's just part of selling stuff. Honestly though when selling I have learned it's best to just price stuff at a pretty fair price and be firm. Normally it doesn't last long.

Yes, I have a buddy that makes damn good side money texting/calling everyone on Craigslist on every Honda fourwheeler ad listed locally, offering lowball offers. When they accept, he buys, cleans them up and fixes any minor issues, turns around and sells anywhere from $500-$1500 or even more than that within the next week or two. Honda fourwheelers will always sell and it's not uncommon to catch a young kid trying to get out from under atv payments or needing extra money for a new truck he wants or set of mud tires or mall crawler skyjacker lift kit.

I tried it myself for a couple days, after messaging about 10 different people offering them $2k for their $3k fourwheeler, I got tired or bothering people. I was always very respectful in my initial message and would simply state "I would be a buyer at x amount if you would take it, and if not, I appreciate your time." Some would be nice and say they could not take that offer, but some done like I would do if someone offered me a bullshit offer and was like hell no, I will let it rot before I sell it for that. lol. There's money to be made if you don't care to deal with the communication, but I don't like feeling like I'm pestering someone.

The 'What is your best price?" line is probably the dumbest ****ing thing. Make an offer you dipshit!
