I bought a 2008 LS3 with supposedly low miles. it has variable cam (getting rid of) non DOD(Displacementondemand) and is a FFV(flexfuelvehicle) which has the largest injectors.
Basically Im wanting a list of Modifications that need to be done like oil pan, pcv, ect. looking for power and RELIABILITY!

Thanks In advance!

Those motors aren't worth a crap, you need to just cut your loses now, there is no sense wasting anymore money on it.You can give me your address and I will come and get it out of your way just to help you out. :****:

Thanks I was scared of the aluminum block when I bought it anyways! Thanks for your help! 200 university blvd tuscaloosa al 35405

Re:

Don't ditch the VVT! Get the MAST M90 setup and VVT cam. 530hp, very dependable, great idle and they provide all the tuning and diagnostic cables you need to access the ECM. Totally bad ass setup! It is a plug and play setup that flat works awesome.

I'll research that thanks what else? Is an accumulator necessary?

I use Kevco pans and a good oil pump like the pump Texas Speed and Performance sells. MAST also has a trap door pan and I'm sure they have a ported oil pump. Stay away from the Melling pump, it doesn't seem to be any better than a stock pump. Accumulators are never a bad idea, I've just never used one and have yet to have a bad situation come up where I wished I had it.

How can you do that?

I can't find an exact #, but I work for GM and we can look at the last last time it was serviced, when it was totaled, traded in, the vehicle changed ownership, etc...

Stroke it and sell me ur crank rods and pistons for my 6.0 :afro: and as Bj said hook up with mast they got their **** going on on these motor

The Mast parts are nice if you want a plug and play setup that is all matched together and doesn't require any additional dyno time.. I went with the OEM E38 ECM and wiring harness so those parts can be sourced at any junkyard. My L92 is running WCCH CNC ported stock LS3 heads (9:1 CR), ported LSA supercharger, TSP VVT-2 cam, beehive springs, 1.75" primary headers into 3" dual exhaust, and right at 16hrs on a dyno tuning it. I am just shy of 700HP at the crank. My plan is to run it till the engine lets go, and then step up to a TSP 416 rotating assembly, and Linenfelter pullies to get me just under 800 reliable horsepower on pump gas. I have right at $8000 total in the engine, including its $3500 purchase price

Thanks for all the replies if I go with the mast kit I guess I can sell the factory PCM and harness? Is it necessary to change the fuel rails?

MAKE IT ALL MATCH ... SPEND SOME OF THAT HARD EARNED MONEY NOW...... AND SAVE ALOT OF TIME AND MONEY LATER ...... BELIEVE ME IM A DOCTOR

I'm sure Mast stuff is nice and I know everyone here is a Mast :tc. But it isn't required. There are exponentially more people in the world making serious power with ultimate reliability using stock ECM's than there are using Mast. At least with stock stuff there is a chance in hell that you can find a replacement in a pinch from multiple sources. With Mast you know everything is always a mere UPS shipment away and not on weekends with only one source for technical expertise except on weekends. I think they even use their own unique data port, right? So if you have issues and don't have your laptop with you, forget trying to use a cheap scanner?

Especially if you have an E67 ECM, which I think the LS3 does. I've heard that ECM is amazingly powerful and reliable, GM's flagship ECM based on the best upgrades to all the previous ones.
