what tranny to put in my k5?

i ahve an 85 k5 automatic tranny with 180,000 miles on it so im gonna replace it soon. what tranny do you guys think i should put in? do you know of anyone selling a good tranny that i can put in my k5?

the easiest thing to do is to keep it an auto cause unless you buy a whole truck to swap in a stick, your gonna need clutch pedal and mounts, clutch cylinder if hydraulic. dont get me wrong id rather have a manual but its not right for all.

if yours is a th400 just have it rebuilt, if its a th350 go get a th400

if it is a th350 it is just as good as a th400 so keep it and rebiuld it put in heavy duty clutches and a good rv torque converter in it and and a good tranny cooler and a good shift kit and youll do just fine

Its probably a 700R4 and worth keeping if you upgrade the 2nd gear servo and TC lockup along with the usual clutch pack/valvebody mods.
