If it's a 4 speed it's an L45, 5 speed is L50 or L52

They all have the same gearing, the L52 has a slightly bigger input shaft bearing. But for trail use I don't think one is that much better than the other, unless you need 5th gear to go really fast. The L52 was in 83 models so you probably have it.

Well I pulled the motor from Berry's-U-Pull it and rebuilt it myself. First one! Thanks Haynes.. I acquired the transmission off of another project I bought. I bought if for the propane kit and transmission. Sold everything else and ended paying about $150 for the kit, trans/tranny, and a few parts.
