I need a crash course on EB and Solid Axle Big Bronco front suspensions.

I have plans to graft the entire radius arm setup from an EB onto one of my trucks.

I got the front section of an EB frame from Pokey, but unfortunately he didn't have any arms. Another board member has a set of arms (he things) but they are from a 79 or so.

It there any (important) differences in EB frames/suspensions that I should know about for ordering parts etc. We don't know the year of the frame.

Will the BB arms work with the EB set up?

I'll be using a D44 in the front, (pre '78 D44 welded on wedges grafted onto another axle, passenger side drop at that... if I can make it work). Would the EB arms even fit? or would the BB arms be a better choice.

I haven't decided if I'm going to graft the EB frame as is to the front, or cut it and widen it to match the width of my frame (need to do some more measuring) or cut the brackets off and weld them individually to my frame. I'm inclined to graft the frame and leave all the bracket spacing in place. I'm not opposed moving things around if I need to.

thanks in advance.

EB's have a vin # on the frame, passenger side on top of the frame rail just in front of the firewall. You can find the year by using the info here: http://www.westcoastbroncos.com/Vin Tech.html

Not sure why you would want stock EB radius arms, they do not work very well. Most EB guys go to long arms, simple and cheep.

I do know a guy who put EB arms on a TJ. Not sure how well it worked out for him but I can give him a call if you want. Here is his write up on the arms:

Good luck with this,

That's what I'm going for, beef, simple and cheap. Articulation is not the goal with this one, nor is big lift. Nice thing about this bronco stuff is that its cheap, most people are willing to give it away. Should make a nice upgrade from the shackle forward leafs when jumping and bumping (:D)

FWIW....Roger Bell....aka FEARME is "THE" EB expert.....bar none. Not sure if he could help in this peticular situation though

EB and BB arms are the same arms. All EB frames are going to the be same. The only differences in the front ends was the early pre 73 had dana 30's, and the 76-77 had different steering linkage. A y setup vs a typical steering setup.
Like stated, you wont get much flex out of stock arms. There are places that sell 12" extensions for the stock arms, that seem to work really well.
