Just so you know what the OHV & motorsports users are really up against in
Olympia!

We have been assured by Dave Helgeson who is a CLOUT member, that this email
thread below from Senator Adam Kline is authentic. We are trying to fulfill
Senator Kline's request for us to "circulate this to all motorized sports
enthusiasts."

Please do your part to assist us in fulfilling Senator Kline's request by
getting this to as many OHV/motorsports enthusiasts as you can.

Thank you,

CLOUT Admin

Dear Mr. Helgeson,

I signed on because I have been annoyed, endangered, and angered one too
many times by people riding motorized dirt-bikes and other off-road vehicles
that have no damn business anywhere. To me, this bill is narrow--it doesn't
include those "personal watercraft," seemingly jet-powered little missiles
whose only apparent purpose is to risk death and dismemberment for boaters
and swimmers, for the amusement of spoiled drunk teenagers.

Yes, I am sure there is the occasional responsible person who rides one of
these machines on land or water. And yes, like every human being I have
been pleasantly surprized to find my stereotypes broken. But why, why, why,
do folks insist on motorized "sports"? Those two words are an oxymoron.
There is nothing sporting--athletic, physically demanding--about riding any
machine anywhere. And it's a damned annoyance to folks who see the outdoors
as a place to go for quiet and solitude and self-exploration. I would be
happy to ban the use of the internal combustion engine off-road, by anyone
without a handicapped sticker, subject to a stiff fine. Maybe we could call
this an anti-obesity measure.

Please circulate this to all motorized sports enthusiasts, so they can
remember never to vote for me.

Adam Kline

MESSAGE:

Senator Kline,

I am curious to know why you would co-sponsor the most discriminatory,
anti-OHV Bill ever proposed?

SB 5544changes would creating maximum sound levels for riding
near any residence, regardless of where that residence is located or how it
is zoned. It would become illegal for my Family to ride our motorcylces and
quads
where they are "plainly audible" from in or adjacent to any residence. This
would even include residences that are on farm land, forest land or in an
industrial area.

One of the few riding area riding areas where it is still legal to ride in
Western Washington is Captial State Forest near Olympia. There are a few
parcels of private property located within the forest. This law, if passed,
would effectively shut this area down. Ditto for the nearby Straddle Line
ORV park.

What really strikes me as absurd about this proposal is race tracks like
Evergreen Speedway in Monroe could host auto races of all types, but any off
road events would be illegal.

In addition, this law would only apply to my dirtbike or quad. It would not

apply to other, more common sources of residential noise such as lawnmowers,

chainsaws, cars, trucks, boats, airplanes, stereos, playgrounds, ballfields,

etc. It is just plain discrimination against Off Highway Vehicle use and
has nothing to do
with keeping neighborhoods quiet.

Off Highway Vehicle recreation is a fun and growing family sport, it would
be nice to see sports that support families embraced by Olympia with more
open riding areas, instead of discriminated against.

I would hope that you drop your support of this legislation.

TODAY so motorized recreation will have an even stronger voice in Olympia.

REMEMBER TO BE AT THE OHV RALLY IN OLYMPIA MARCH 9, 2007 AT NOON ON THE
CAPITOL STEPS! PEOPLE LIKE SENATOR KLINE NEED TO HEAR FROM US!!

Wow and for all you that live in the 37th legislative District need to vote him out and there is no wheeling in the district any way but I guess he feels the need to effect someone elses district.

in tonights mail.

Senator Kline has personally confirmed many times today, that he wrote the
email below to Dave Helgeson as we previously reported.

Now a caution! Please remember that only an idiot argues with zealot.
Please do NOT write or communicate with Senator Kline on this issue unless
you are a constituent in his legislative district.

Save your energy and provide input to those who can out vote Senator Kline
and his gang of anti-OHV bigots that sponsored SB 5544. YOUR input is VERY
effective if provided to the Senator that represents you in the legislature.

Use this link http://apps.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder/Default.aspx to find
your personal Senator.

Then use the little GREEN E-MAIL hyperlink on their personal web page (just
under their phone numbers) to contact them. That way you emaill will not be
filtered out as spam.

Be polite but persuasive. WE must KILL SB 5544.

Sending that email is more important than attending the March 9, 2007 OHV
Rally in Olympia. However, YOU really need to BOTH if you want to keep
riding off road, even on private property, here in WA State.

Thank you,

I absolutely hate this guy if in fact "he" has a weener!!! I hope he is walking in a field that used to be a off road park(If law passes) and falls down and gets attacked by a bear or a cougar of some sort and gets hurt VERY badly!!! Discimination anybody! Just because he has NO life or friends he tries and currupts(sp) our fun, action packed lifes. I wouldn't mind repeatedly punching this "guy" in the face.
Cory,

Buwahahahha! He's got rainier valley in his district  For some reason I think gunshots and police car chases should be a little higher on his priority list than ORVs:haha: :looser: Quiet neighborhoods? in rainier valley? :kissmyass:

This is the email I received back from my district representative Skip Priest (he was quick to return my email which was great):

Hi Ryan--

Thanks for your e-mail. The good news is that the bill died in the
House Committee at our cut-off this week. The bad news is that the
companion Senate bill is alive in the Senate. I would contact Senator
Eide to express your concerns.

Skip

So email your Senator that represents your district.

Ryan.

You know it's funny how he validates that mountain climbing is an ok sport (because he does it) however another sport (insert 4x4'n, snowmobiling, etc.) is of the devil.

My interests are all over the board, mountain biking, skiing, climbing, 4x4'n, photography and so on. At the same time, I think it's great cities are encouraging skateboarders by building parks, baseball little leagues (which I find deathly boring) and even maintaining responsible libraries. Either way I am just glad to see people outside and away from the TV. Besides, there are 100,000's more hiking trails than there are 4x4 trails. nuff said.

Since when does having to be overly physical make a sport a sport. A sport is "an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature". Im only 18 and i recently discovered four wheeling and i can't get enough of it. He sounds like a stubborn tree hugger just making excuses to get his way.
