So who makes a good winch hawse for cable? I see a lot of people have aluminum ones, but i'm afraid the cable would rip the crap out of it in the first pull. Anyone have a place they have gotten one they like and run woth regualr cable NOT rope...:corn:

I used to have an old Warn one that came with my M8000... just a galled up chunk of steel.

The aluminum ones are specifically for rope rope, not wire rope... sounds like you know that already though. The steel cable will eat it quick. I have a nice Spidertrax alum. one, just waiting to bite the bullet and order some rope so I can use it.

I have an old roller fairlead you can have. :redneck:

Ya I have a roller fairlead..... the holes in the "universal" warn winch plate i frankensteined dont fit the roller fairlead... it doesnt line up at all:rolleyes: That's why i want a steel hawse, it should line up with the correct holes and be a little cleaner profile.

What about UHMW or whatever it is plastic fairleads for cable? I thought I read it held up better? Maybe that was just for rope?
