How do you guys clean dirt and grit out of your synthetic winch line? I have heard just toss them in the washer, hot or cold water? Soap? Le me know... Thanks.

Cool... Does not look like soap is good for them so I think I will just hose it down and call it good.

We clean our Tech Rescue ropes all the time. Mild soap and water, even use the washing machine. The trick is to NOT use a soap with any detergents. You WANT to wash it if it's visibly dirty because dirt and grit get pushed into the inner core and thats where it starts to do damage. Imagine the rope bending with dirt inside the inner sheath, it's like a bunch of little serated knives slowly cutting away at your core strength. That being said, it's only winch rope and it's usually not as big a deal when they snap as a rescue line would be. So, hosing it off is better than nothing.

My pals with a bunch of knots tied in their winch line, theirs is the dirtiest ive seen, relevant? maybe
