allright guys, we are fixing to have our truck 4 linked in the rear, do you think we would need to put a small winch in the back and if so what size are you all running. if not a winch do you think we could just put limit straps tieing the rear down
what is your opinion. this is on a toyota based truck, truggy now.
thanks jamie

No need for a rear winch if your geometry is correct. Limit straps, if installed correctly, prevent overextension of the shocks; cheap insurance if you're rough on equipment.

I rarely use my rear winch. Only to pick up a tire out of a hole. I have a 4,000 pound Warn with rope. I also have 15 inch limit straps doubled up. If winch ever fails, I will not replace it.

A rock knocked mine off; didn't notice it was gone for several trips. No clue when it happened, but the broken bolts were rusted when I noticed it.

i use a "warn works" 1700 lb winch from TSC, they are the orange industrial ones... it was cheap, like $120-130... i use it when im off camber, just tightens things up a little... i loosen it way up when bombing through rough stuff, it lets the suspension take full advantage of the travel i have... i took the cable off and put 12 feet of 3/8" rope on it... it has held up for 2 years now...

winch on the front and limit straps on the back works fine for me

i priced some small xt1500,xt2500,xt3500 warn winches the xt1500 is $500 bucks, think for now we will go with limit straps
thanks for your input
