What's the difference between an eBay 20,000 lb snatch block and a WARN or other brand name unit, other than the price?

From the picture, it looks like a 5/8" axle, so will I have problems with my 3/8" rope and warn M8000 winch?

eBay 20k snatchblock $34 (new, free shipping)
warn 19k snatchblock $80

To assure maximum efficiency and safety, sheaves for wire ropes should be no less than eight times the rope diameter. The sheave groove diameter should be no less than ten percent greater than the rope diameter. The sheave groove should be round in shape. Sheaves with

For less than 1/2 the price I'd say try it. I've been meaning to get one of these as well, the old 50lb freebie snatch block is tonnnnnnnnage

A couple years ago when T-Max Winches were brand new, I bought one of their snatch blocks at their swap meet booth for like $30. Helluva deal. Swap meet's coming up, but the price has probably gone up.

I have 2 of those off of ebay. Screw the ARB or warn snatch blocks. They are too expensive. Mine work just fine. Make sure you get a greasable one (don't see one in the pic) and I don't think you will have any problems

So, minimum pulley diameter for 3/8" rope = 3 inches.
Minimum thickness of the groove is about 7/16" for the same rope.
That's good info. According to those minimum specs, this thing is a winner with a 5" pulley and 5/8" groove.

I'll shop around for a greaseable one for sure. Thanks for the tips.

Quick update, the block comes with a 1-1/8" axle and a grease port.

The pulley itself is 4" overall diameter. The inside of the groove for rope is about 3.5" dia.

It's now tucked in my kit, and I can't wait to rig it up and try it out.

Got any time off this summer, Brian?
