Because my son's rig has a few electrical issues, I figured, as well as SWMBOd, that someone here would know a place to have the wiring checked out and/or redone.

Second question. Upon doing a lift on a Cherokee, would this help reduce the creaking a 17 year old Jeep would do? Am I correct in guessing that upon doing a lift, the springs, which most likely cause most of the creaking, are replaced?

For those that can't tell, yes, I am completely lost when doing any of this work and no, I d onot look forward to doing any of it.

Wiring...you can try buying a used harness from Olympic. Maybe you should be more specific as to what the problem is?

Creaking...most likely dry, worn out bushing in the control arms and leaf springs...or maybe cracks in the uni-body.

What kind of wiring probs? I just bought a replacement harness for my '87 MJ (because I'm swapping in an automatic and needed the shift computer stuff for '87/88) I tried the '90 harness in mine, but it doesn't have the big plug above the brake booster like mine and I didn't want to hack up the wiring (plus I got it for like $35)

Mostly, the dash lights don't work. The fuse is good, replaced it with a known good fuse, but still nothing.

I think SWMBOd should be happy he's riding a beater, that runs well, and not worry about silly things like dash lights. Considering he's planning on turning it into a wheeling rig, and we all know you can't wheel at night, ::wink:: so who needs dash lights, right?

Anyway, SWMBOd would be much happier if the Jeep was a little more showroom than junk yard. No offense, Jim.

None taken, but if the parts are good used OEM, why not make use of them? Mine is only coming out due to the auto swap. Did he replace the headlight switch yet? They are known to burn out the brightness dial when someone shorts out the cig light.

Haven't done anything but the fuse for the taillights. Nice cop didn't give the kid a ticket for that (Son forgot a couple things: Registration and insurance)

I'm not really sure what to do, or when I, or he, might have time. I know he doesn't know enough about his rig to do most work. He knows how to change a tire now, though...

It being something electrical, I'd rather have someone else look at it, that has some expirence, then me fawking it up more.
