I moved this from General discussion, but thought someone here would want to see it:

Re: Rock Bouncing Issues

I know this vid may get deleted....not graphic just clearly shows that the spectator is CLEARLY aware of being too close

Pay attention to what she says a 0:19

Thanks for moving it. I was interested in seeing what happened. That could have been WAY worse, they got lucky there.

Re: WITC Video Moved Hereas

I agree totally with what you said in your post in the general discussion section earlier today and feel like there is a problem with people wanting to stand to closs to the action. What is sad is she even said to the crowd that she is to closs but continues to stand there. I will say this issue is not only in rockcrawling but most racing also. A good friend of mine wrecked mud racing at the first of the year and almost went into the crowd. People was standing where he wrecked which is not where the track wants you to stand. Before the wreck was over people was wanting to fight and hurt him because he wrecked and almost hurt several people. In a nutt shell if they would have been standing where thy are suppossed to and back at a safe distance nobody would have been in danger. Im just glad nobody did get hurt.

Thanks John

This is something my close wheelin friends and myself have talked about a lot lately.

The sport / buggies have just simply evolved to this level, wich can be very dangerous if not spectated carefully.

John,

Thanks for posting that. Probably catch a bunch of **** from it but it should be said.

Good Post John. I think the nutswinging and spectating only is getting out of hand.

I can remember when we used to go to grayrock, we would wheel our rigs with our group, and if you happened on someone beating down their rig you would stop and watch for a minute.
Get out of your truck, and maybe even (gasp) drink a beer... Stand around and talk for a minute then go on about your business, have fun with your group.

It seems like now there are 12 people in the entire parks wheeling while a hoard of people are clustered around trying to throw themselves under their tires. Did you forget you came to actually wheel Your rig...
The one you spent way more money than you should on to try to make it as cool as joe blows, and will likely break something through the course of the weekend. ;D

That general discussion thread had good intentions, but i think the guys in a pissing contest over how many dead bodies they have seen, or (No offense to you at all John) the i've seen the light alcoholics wanting to bring cops in to events and give breathalizers are as stupid as the people standing where they shouldn't. The last thing our sport needs is more rules and regulations, that's what make it cool, ( 'merica! i know, i know ) What it really needs in more common sense and people worried about their own trip instead of standing in one spot all day, getting hammered drunk, and standing 6 feet away from a 1000hp buggy.

Let Cole and Busted Knucked do what they do, go wheel your own rig, and watch the replay of the shenanigans on youtube as many times as you want... :dblthumb:

Every one of these guys is trying to be the next Tim Cameron.

This is why I have never enjoyed wheeling in the SE. It is not the trails as much as it is the show. I love the show, but if I am wheeling I want to wheel, not wait in line for everyone to "Put on a Show"

Scary times in out litigious society.

This for the win! Props to you guys making money off of this core group of hardcore guys, but I think all the nutswinging you have created is making the problem worse. There are more and more people just showing up to watch and not participate. We all know that spectators, especially dumb ones, are the problem. John's point is that as soon as someone dies, it will be everyone's problem, regardless of fault.

This reminds me of the MANY reasons I miss wheeling at Tellico SO MUCH yall,.....me and my group of wheelin buddies used to pic OFF weekends and make trips to Tellico ALL THE TIME.

You know, get off work Thursday and Friday , go up Thursday mornin, set up camp then WHEEL LIKE CRAZY till it was time to go home Sunday afternoon.

And, we always left the BEER and RUM DRINKS back at camp to enjoy around the camp fire at night, and packed lots of food ,cokes ,gatorade and waters for the trail,"and LITTLE DEBBIES ;D

and we wheeled ALL DAY and had a DAMN GOOD TIME doin it :****:

But now it seems to me that small park wheelin has evolved into to much of a 24 hour PARTY atmosphere.......

This is also why I LOVE goin to wheel at HARLAN so much yall,.........we wheel HARLAN exactly how we used to wheel Tellico,

and we don,t care if we see another group ALL DAY ;D

anyway...bla bla bla

This is a subject that is LONG OVERDUE gettin put out on the internet John, HATS OFF to you :dblthumb:

And to combine that with the level of buggies / obstacles out there today is gonna make things more dangerous.

DAMN......that post got all ****ed up , TRAPPED in the qoute box, and a couple of my seteneces came up in the WRONG SPOT, I don,t know what happened :dunno:

sorry yall ;D

Fixed.

I am sitting to close to the screen to tell what you are talking about......

Seriously this is a topic at my shop all the time.
People that have been wheeling for years know about this John you just put it on the front page finally.

I feel like we might have an angry mob on our hands with the rock bounce thread. Maybe delete the posts that could be harmful ammunition for a future lawsuit?

just my opinion, that is a thread that needs to stand

Johns not being the fun police, but bringing to light that drivers need to be cautious. I dont think its the drivers fault, but I wouldnt hit **** that had the crowd pouring over into it. Just move down the trail and hit something else. I just dont like being sued. Maybe they dont care, but why risk it.

Agreed. There is gona be some **** head at RBD that wants to be Billy Bad Ass that is gona hafta be taken down. Its not gona matter if you delete it or not because some are taking the discussion the wrong way. I do feel it needs to be taken down sometime in case someone does want to use it as ammo against us.

Raising awareness is good but that thread doesn't look good for an outsider looking in IMO, too many people taking it the wrong way.

Rest assured, thread up or down when there is a death the bleeding hearts of the court will show the land owner and promotors no mercy. I have worked way too hard to throw my families future away because I felt it better to stick my head in the sand!

I was thinking about this video while we were riding WITC on New Years. We had to tell people to stand up and move before we hit T3. They were sitting down in the same spot as in this vid.

What's crazy to me is that the rock bouncer crashes, saves, etc. have all gotten way more dramatic since this vid and people still don't get it. I think the drivers are going to have to take more responsibility because it seems the spectators are never going to learn.

Daniel I agree, I think it is going to take a group effort on everyone's part. There are more and more spectators, especially at big events, that have never seen what these vehicles can do and how quickly things can go bad.
