Wobbley gooseneck?

Just got my first gooseneck trailer. It was/is homemade junk. I spent the weekend redoing ,stiffening and cleaning up some of the hack jobs. Before I started you could grab the top and make the entire trailer twist and sway, after I was done it still twists some but nowhere near as bad. Is this common in goosenecks or should I go back and add some more bracing.

Add what they call a torque pipe down the center.
All it is is a piece of round pipe welded through the center of each crossmemeber extending the entire length of the trailer.

X2 I've added pipe to longer and larger trailers with this problem and it cured them.

Never heard of that until just now, thanks! I have a piece of 5" 1/4 wall I can use, might not be the best but its free

A properly built trailer can flex quite a bit without any negative handling or longevity issues. The best handling trailer I've ever owned was a big goose that would flex like crazy. I didn't believe it at first either but after years of towing with it I grew to love it.

Once you strap stuff down to the deck it will stiffen up a ton.

looks like the front of the trailer is higher then the rear when its hooked up. level it out if you can that should help

I'm planning to raise the back and lower the front before I put anything on it. The guy i got it from had it behind a lowered 2wd dually
