So myself and Haley had some business to handle this evening, so he text's me " Ill swing by and get you guys in the caddi "

I was thinking he was referring to his new truck, you know cowboy cadillac or what ever... cause I have never scene or heard him mention this
"caddi"

1962 original as **** except the wheels and tires Cadillac ... loaded, power windows, front seat, AC ... friggen thing is sick ( not restored thats faded then re-waxed original paint, rusty spots included.... )

So yea, she has bad exhaust leak, tape on the seats to keep em from spilling thier guts and drips when she holds still.... but damn its a beautiful thing to see... and i was so excited to get HB and Amber for that matter, in thier first "old car" experience .

( butter up for rat rod ??? Hmmmmmm )

So we are headed Habenaros to go eat some messican and I had a big ol Margarita on the rocks.. apprx 22 miles from the house. A bit of highway, a bit of back roads, some railroad crossing and very little in-town driving.... perfect !!!! With windows down and five people ( OK 4.5 ) riding comfortably in the back we set out.... Haley at the controls like a Capt of a battleship, majestically gliding along the Pacific ! YES !!

We cruise very near our destination and seeing that Matt's Palace is in route we figure we will cruise through and stunt past B-Monies weak ass late 70's wanna be Old School Impala he is always spitting off about on the radio. ( for those not in the know B money is a white DJ on a local prodominately black radio station..... has **** for taste in cars I might add )
As we get close to the O-Ton Mansion, Haley says...

" Smells like somethings on fire, I hope its not us "

laughing1

a short moment afterward from 30 feet back in the rear seat I notice some "smoke" whirling about and Haleys wife starts for the window saying... "What is that burning !! "

We're close and Amber and I give directions to hit the next road, turn in and head down Matt's road towards his house ... Im thinking if this Caddi is on fire, I damn sure dont wanna watch it burn and we need a garden hose ( commonly referred to as a "hose pipe" ) STAT.

We ghetto glide the huge whip into the neighborhood and everyone easily escapes the 4 foot birth provided by the 2 ton beautiful American crease'd and formed doors. A quick inspection reveals sho-nuff.... we's be on fi-yah !! Haley's dad must have ramped the ol girl on something last time he was swervin and pushed the exhaust up a tad to close to the belly... she's old, metal thin and well, heat transfers quick enough so the padding and carpet has started a nice little burn test...

first pic is the layer of carpet above said muffler...

second would be the floor mat above that which became overwhelmed with the bottom layers "flame out"

that car is perfect except the rims. I love it. Big cars that rock lots of people just plain work.

As for the fire, nothing floor mats wont cover I hope.

Matt and his wife come out, we all take some time to enjoy the car and its beautiful body... look her over, hope she's calmed down , give our pounds , hugs and bail out for burrito's.

We get almost within walkin distance to the burro's and she flames up again, this time hard and with a vengence, we cant breath and wontwork is getting a bit nervous, off the side of the road we go, Im watching the interior while he is under the car with a tire iron fished from the trunk trying to pry ol gurls heaters away from the floor... She gives way a bit and well... its tough to see but the belly is fairly rusty and Im watching the tire iron come on through were carpet once was.

We get it close to bareable and decide we better head to the gas station within sight and splash the floor with all the water we can find !!

We get there, and as i run inside to get water bottles, water gallons whatever, Haley is workin the pump pole... ( ok splashing the wash your windshield bug water ) out onto the floor board tryin to soak it all down and make her cool again.

I buy two biggy sized water bottles so we dont have to resort to spitting at it if it heats up again, and low and behold they have a clearance run of 5liter baby keg Coors Light kegs , so I snag one of those as well. ( Yes I like beer that much, so sue me and I've never suckled a mini kegs lil sister so fug it, P is in ! )

ANyway, the rest of the trip went really well, she was cool after Haley got the muff pulled away from the floor a good bit and we enjoyed some great eats and another terrific ride in a piece of Americana !

Here are a few other pics, I got some sweet "moving down the road" pics on my Blackberry, but the battery died when I started to email them so youll have to wait until the am.

Heres some I took at the house...

I wonder if the exhaust has a hole on the top?

Other than the whole catching on fire thing, that's a really sweet ride.

Damn it caught fire again. ****, I should of sent a bucket of water and an extinguisher with ya ;D

Damn, just damn. I love it. ****, I would rock that thing as a dd. Did I mention I love it.... drool drool drool drool

LOVE that car!

It wouldn't have been half the experience without the thick smell of burning plastic and fear of dying in a fiery crash. skully

Makes me think about the FJ45 I had, leaky fuel tank dropping the smell of sweet 92 octane all in the cab.

Having to pull over and take the top off to keep from passing out at the wheel :woody:

As P would say, "It's a true hot rod."

It was just hot at your house. It realy caught fire on up the rode. If I wouldn't of had pants on the hair on my leg would be no more.
Good times. ;D

Saw this on the way to happy hour last night. :woody: :woody:

Old Caddis are cool! I've got a white 59 2d hard top, white with 85k. And a black 63 2d ht with 50k. i dont like the 61s and 62s as well, Caddi put a the lower fin behind the rear wheels that the didnt do in 60 or 63. The color and wheels make that ride way cool. Ya'll scored!

'60 is my favorite of the fins. '59 was too big, and then completely agree on '61 and '62. I have a '61 now, but it fell into my lap I couldn't say no.

I had a blast even with the bit of smoke/mini fire... It was not a blaze or anything!

Smooth sailing! 8)

Too bad you dont have old tin laying around, if you did I would have talked it off of you years ago. Keep your eyes opens on all the farms around there. That **** is all over.
