Scout 44's are really not very desirable due to their oddball outer's, they are scout only. Also a scout 44 take's a small u joint as far as I know.
Define "small u-joint"Scout 44's are really not very desirable due to their oddball outer's, they are scout only. Also a scout 44 take's a small u joint as far as I know.
i was under the assumption that the older scout stuff used the smaller u joint (dana 30). Though I have been wrong before.
Ummm maybe in the circle you travel with but their still a very popular upgrade for those who dont need to run a 40" tire. and want to go a little wider than a stock jeep. their are a lot of us (Myself incl) that use the scout outers due to their stoutness(sp)

Ditto...must have issues...
I don't have any problems with the externals...
Well for the price and effort of killing so many external locks, he could have switched over to ford Hub/Rotor LOOONG ago.his scout makes a habit out of killing hubs. if he comes down hard with power on the inner hub gear machines out the outer hub body and makes six little windows. one day he killed two at the same time. ive never been a fan of bolt on style hubs, like old jeeps, scouts, old fullsizes, etc. ive never killed a slide in hub, like the outers people use off ford trucks. plus the stub axle is bigger. the only bolt on bubs i like are toyota hubs cuz they have the cone washers, and as long as there tight they hold good.
