Couple of us have XP's and im sure more on this board will be getting them. This is to discuss some of the problems with the XP and how to fix it.
The weakest link on these things are for sure the rear radius arms ( 4 bars that run from wheel to back of frame). First off you need to get rid of the stock rear brace they bolt to. Its weak and I know I would have bent mine for sure. Kelly "blacksheep10" has a couple versions he has been burning out for us. Also makes a great spot to attach the rear bumper. Here is mine from Kelly
After you have the upgraded its time to do something about the rear radius arms. I bent one of my lowers at SMORR and figured I would sleeve them. I cut them in half and slide 1" o.d. .120 wall tube over them. Welded them all up and worked good for awhile. About 2 weeks ago I slid into a tree at about 30. Then last weekend the end of the radius arm broke. You can only sleeve so far. I took the end off and it had rust where it broke. Makes me think it cracked when I hit the tree and then broke when I was riding the other day. I kept riding on it broke (didnt know it was broke) and the arm caught a tree or something and ripped it in half. So I am back to needing to do something about the radius arms. Not wanting to mess with stock because the ends will just be the weak link.
Several compaines are making these radius arms. There are high clearance versions. Which are not going to be as strong as a straight link but you wont get caught up on them either. I have never got caught up on mine though so I dont think its that big of a problem. These are made by ZBROZ
Several other companies are making straight versions. Such as Racer Tech. There made for 1 1/4" chromo. Beef for sure. Wide Open Design has the best set on the market IMO being 1 1/4" 7075 Aluminum but like anything else there $$$.
I found a thread on rzrforums about these links and one guy is running them with good luck. Speedway motors sells them. Part # 910-354-21. There very cheap at 12 bucks a piece and threaded for 5/8" heims on each end. We will see how these hold up. I ordered a spare just in case I need it. There 1" o.d. 6065 alum. Ill post pictures once I have them bolted up. I think there going to work well.
