Swap it over.

Make sure the engine is under the hood area and the tranny and xfer case is behind it. Just slap it right in there.

Everyone here is being sarcastic towards your initial question. It's a pretty vague question about a highly complex project, with nothing to gain by doing it.

Ask specific questions, get specific answers.

What are your plans for the following:

Jeep axles are 60" wide, Chevy are 69" wide.
Front axles have the differential on opposite sides.
Chevy front axle spring perches are wider than the Jeep frame.
Headers or manifolds?
Are you going to wire it?
How do you plan to get it through emissions?
How long is the Chevy drivetrain assy?
What gas tank?
What fuel pump?

The biggest question I have, is what do you have to gain by swapping a Chevy drivetrain into a Jeep chassis? There's nothing spectacular about that Chevy drivetrain at ALL, and no reason to hack up a Jeep to put in a mediocre drivetrain.

swap

my original plan was to small block it and because i had A 2.5L and my clutch went with my 33s and i here about people swappin in full size axles and i was tryin to see if anybody had any input on doin the swap and i was really askin what all of the drivetrain do people think i should put in the motor and tranny or motor tranny and trans or all

For northwest trail use, the 2.5 is not a bad motor at all. Definitely better than some old carb'd V8. I have a few friends running the 2.5 and it's the very last thing on their list to upgrade. Your 1/2 ton axles are probably 10 bolts and are not worth swapping. If you want to run trails, get a Ford 8.8 rear axle. Regear to 4.88 and put lockers in. Do a SYE (slip yoke eliminator) kit on the transfercase, and you'll be good to run just about anywhere. The K5 drivetrain is not an improvement, and would be a pain in the ass to swap in.

I agree with Freeride. I could only see that swap being worth it if you had a 60 and a 14 bolt out of the blazer, but since you say it's a K5, it's not 3/4 ton or 1 ton stuff.

If the 2.5 runs good, keep it and put a new clutch in, put some 4:1 gears in your t-case, upgrade the rear axle, and go out and wheel instead of spending a bunch of time swapping parts. :D

You fried your clutch because you put 33" tires on your Jeep? And now you want to put a bigger engine in it to handle the larger tires? I just got done doing a whole drivetrain swap like your talking about. I swapped in a Dodge V-8 w/4speed tranny & a STaK's transfer case. I also swapped in a HP44 front & D60 rear.

Before I had 4.88 gears & a 4 cyl engine. You can replace your clutch and do an inertia ring for some low end grunt. Then as others have said regear your axles. And last but not least a 4:1 kit in your t-case.
And before you go spending too much money on your axles remember you have a D35 rear so you'll want to fix it's issues first or replace with a Ford 8.8.
And for your front axle just upgrade to TJ shafts for the larger u-joints and your golden.

Do what you want with your rig. Talk to wheelinjp about his jeep yj cause his is leaf sprung and has a 350/auto/d300 and fullsize axles.

i took the 2.5 out already to put in a 4.0 but my moms boyfriend gaveit away with out tellin me so im stuck with no motor in it and bought this blaze to either clean up and sell or use the drivetrain if i could get a hold of an ax15 i would just put the 327 in and just go from there

Well your stock axles are not going to handle the 327. Not knowing what shape the Blazer is in I'd say fix it and sell it and get another 4.0 for it. You were going to need a AX15 with the 4.0 as your AX5 wouldn't have worked.

But as others have said it is your Jeep so do it as you will. But I can tell you right now that doing a drivetrain swap isn't cheap or easy.

Fix up the blazer, sell it off, and spend the money to upgrade the jeep. Freeride is on the right track...

jeep

ya thats what ill probley do i think i found some guy to buy my yj and the tranny and trans for 1900 and im gunna fix up my blazer and by another yj with a 4.0

I dont know how much work you want to do but a drivetrain swap is a bit of work. Granted with it being a yj the front axle bolts in and the rear is just moving the perches, but the 2.5 is fuel injested so you would have to regulate the pressure down for a carbed 327 or 350. Personally I dont see anything wrong with your idea if you had the intentions of upgrading later(to f-i, and a d60 front) the 10 bolt will last longer than the d30 but it depends on how big you want to go also. If you plan 33s then I say go for it, but if you want 37s or bigger(you will want bigger) then just sell them both and buy one rig to build.
