Does anyone know if you can sand and epoxy a rough fiberglass hardtop so that it will be smooth and will be shiny when painted?

Do you know how they did it or what they used. I thought about bondo but I'm afraid it might crack when the tops taken off

I would try to use 180 grit and a d/a. Use a good high build primer and flat block it . You may need to prime and block a couple times to get it smooth. May even need to use 80 grit to smooth the texture before priming

Do you have to put any type of epoxy on it? Or can you spray the primer straight onto the sanded fiberglass?

I believe he orbital sanded it and then blocked it and then might have done a thin coat of epoxy then paint. Not a hundred percent sure but the result was slick!
