Ok my buddy is going to lift his 89 YJ do you guys say spring over kit or lift kit? Just curious on everybodies takes on both.. He is looking for 4-5.5 inches on the lift .

Also dana 44's or toyota axles for axle swap???

:corn: SUA 4" skyjacker's. Boomerang shackles. 1" Body lift :corn:

No funny guy when you spring it over you get about 5.5 inches of and and everybody knows that.. 4 inches is basically a spring lift.. "This Cracks me up anymore" <-- What the hell is that? I think your that your the slow tough kid that makes fun of people.. Looks like you didnt read enough magazines.. :fawkdancesmiley:

5.5 inches huh? I guess I should give two shits how high my CJ sits compared to when it was stock. My bad. And I don't read magazines. I do better with pictures.

Seriously, what's he going to do with it? That might just make a difference...

Trail wheel it. Well if he doesnt buy it im going to.. but mostly just trails.. Its got a rebuilt 4 cylinder, and other than that its basically stock..

Spring over, low as possible. Trim the tub to fit. Don't let anything hang below the axles (which eliminates SUA). Don't even think about the relationship to stock height.

If you go SOA you will get 5.5" lift with stock spings= no increase in travel or articulation and you will fight axle wrap and steering issues. Plus it's more work. A good spring under lift with shackles and mabey a body lift is the way to go IMO. Pope is right to not be overly concerned with amount of inches. When I installed my 4.5" Rubicon lift it raised the vehicle about 7" from where it sat on tired stock springs. 1" body lift, not the jackass 4" body lift I've seen before.

Who said anything about stock springs?

And a SUA lift will decrease usable travel because of the extra spring arch.

Oh really. :corn:

I bet my and treeclimbers SUA YJ's flex just as good as or better as than a SOA with stock YJ leafs. :corn:

The common method I've seen for SOA conversion uses stock type spring for 5.5" lift or a 2" spring for 7.5".

Mine too. Good springs, good shackles, good to go!

I was referring more to the good method, where you sell the stock springs to a Sami guy and get better springs :D

Personally I'd still opt for a SOA even with stock springs, just to get the rock magnet leaf springs out from under the axles.

soa all the way. get some waggy leafs if you dont wanna run the stock pos springs or RE spring over ones. Axle wrap :haha: built an antiwrap bar or pay to have it done

What kind of shackles do you guys use? What do you think of the revolver? Whats the max lift you can put on without having you worry about a SYE?? You guys got pictures at all of the articulation that you claim is better? If I spring it over I am going for the RE for sure the was the plan but at the same time I dont want to use the stock axles and with the spring over it gets to be alot more $$$$ for the lift.. because if you SOA it you would need new, springs, new shocks, sye and shaft, etc. All that adds up real fast to well over 1k after the lift is done.. Probably the best way to go but the most expensive also..
