The early 5 speed trannys are not any stronger than the 4 speeds (believe it is an L40/L43?), the stronger tranny would be the W56, which will be longer. You could also consider rebuilding an early 5 speed (L45?) with the bigger input bearing, or having a marlin L45 built but that is expensive.What are you breaking in the 4 speeds? I broke some gears in one but that is because they have a weak input bearing and the gears were not really in mesh with no remaining bearing on the shafts.
