Zirgo fan opinion/experience?

Unless you just feel the need to impress folks with your parts list, go junkyard an oem fan for cheap and spend the money you saved on a high quality aftermarket radiator. OEM fans are designed to keep an engine cool with the AC on, on a 100 degree day stuck in traffic for hours and to last forever. Another advantage of an OEM fan is that many of them have motors that can be replaced for cheap if they do quit. I run a Griffin radiator with one row of 1" flat tube and a single speed fan out of an old Cutlass (just because the shroud fit the radiator real nice) and that setup has worked great for years. Purple Ice and Redline Water Wetter or similar products are also worthwhile for a little extra insurance.

I have a Taurus fan and a quality aftermarket radiator now, and it cools fine. The Taurus fan requires a honking big solenoid to start it up, so I'm looking to go back to an aftermarket fan that draws less current. I would just buy the SPAL, wear SPAL t-shirts, and put SPAL stickers on my truck and Jeep if I were trying to impress people with the brand name of my fan. Who cares.

You're offering sound advice though. Anyone have any real experience with this fan?
