ZJ front axle ?

Yes, either will.

BUT... some '93 ZJ's that are "AWD" or whatever they call it (basically full time 4wd all the time) have CV front axle shafts and not the normal TJ/XJ u-joint style axle shafts. If you're trying to get away from those, then it's a good plan. :)

A TJ axle is a direct replacement, an XJ is a high pinion (no big deal), but they have their caster alignment at the frame side of the jeep, where TJ's and ZJ's use the LCA mounts on the axle.....not a HUGE deal, but somthing to think about.....

I've got a nice pair of disc brake ZJ axles forsale....:redneck:

I'll give you $400 for that lightweight dana 44 you've got.

You have to watch out for the XJ dana 30. Some of them had the vaccum disconnect and some of them didn't. I believe after 91, they did away with it.

Make sure you are getting the correct one.

Just to add to this, here is a discription of XJ front Dana 30's I copied from a FAQ somewhere. 92+ are non-disconnect and ABS or 95+ use 5-297 U-Joints instead of 5-260.

• Front Axles
Dana 30 high pinion - reverse cut - 27 spline, 1.16" diameter shafts, 7.13" ring gear - used 84-99 (some axles through 91 are vacuum disconnect, 92+ are non-disconnect, 89-95 with ABS have 5-297x u-joints, all 95+ have 5-297x u-joints, all others have 5-260x u-joints)
