zookie t-case guys.....UPDATED TO crossmember BUILD

you guys ever tapped out these holes on the case to add mounting points to a crossmember upgrade?

i have seen several upgraded crossmembers ove rthe past couple of years, on here , and other places on the interwebs.....
but cannot recall seeing this done......or remember hearing if it would be safe to the case,etc...........

or maybe, what it was originally for, so that i can determine if i think i'll go for it....bueller?
cheers, brian

My buddy Joe did that with his. He's using the mighty kong and added a support that bolts up there. He hasn't run it yet though, so I don't know how it'll work. Are you running a t-case ebrake? If you're not, I'd just make a rear output support.

i am actually going to do that as well, i just figure build it hell for stout once.:awesomework:

the t'case will be in a flatbelly situation, so i might be able to make a fairly solid mount for it easier if i utilize this as well....cheers, brian

so, i got to work on it....

this is what i was talking about......making that a secondary mounting point on the same plane as the flange mount, and adding the other stock points in.it is started, hopefully i can finish it this week.

man did i earn that hole:haha:evidently i am in the dark ages and cannot afford to even buy a hole saw set.so, the one large haloe saw i had , had to do.....and it did.....pretty well i might add.

then i had about an 1/8th inch left to hog out all the way around....my die grinder skills were ****in ninja, because i got it close.....(for government work:haha:)

i had to decide how to make the stock upper mount, and i just cut, formed it and i think with the l shape to the metal it will maintain rigidity enough not to tweak with everything else involved...

then i needed to fill in that space i was askin about originally....
so .....

next i have to drill and tap those holes.

look, i don't claim to be a fabricator, so just sharing to share.:awesomework:hopefully this works, i will be tying into the other stock mount location as well....then figure out how to mount it on the frame.....

cheers, brian

Tieing into the rear output where most upgrades are done, along with the added support where you have the arrows isn't a bad idea at all...helps spread the load out across the back of the case IMO! I just hope this doesn't equate to broken output shafts...may want to upgrade those as well (front and rear)...

right , right....
i had wondered if i should use the aluminum puck like mounts to have some give, when i mount to the frame.

but, i do not see how that would make a difference.......after having everything on the t case solid.....cheers, brian
