Then what in the hell would give you the idea that a 44 will hold up with 40" tires!?:eeek:

woah guys and gals slow down a bit. I'm trying to take this all in beacuse I've been out of the scene for 20+ years. I'm from the days of N78 tires and power locks. dana 60 in a cj was unheard of back then but now it looks like the sixty is the way to go.

I don't want to worry about breaking parts, I'm too old for that ****.

after looking at those pics I'm not touching a dana 44. I was looking at one of those rubicons but after driving one then hearing about all the problems with the drivetrain I decided not to purcahse one. I have never liked chrysler products.

Any vehicle you find or buy is going to have its ups and downs no matter what. if your looking for a cheap rig that is undestructable your prob going to be getting a huge POS.

you can either spend your money on drivetrain upgrades or the money buying a toyota and doing a SAS (if its somewhat newer). BUY A JEEP, toyotas are :rb:

That sure helps the man decide on what axles to go with doesn't it.

Hoss you are smart to go with a 60 right off the bat, I have done the turd polishing bit and managed to keep it up for a long toime but I ended up spending waaay more rthan it was worth in the end. Pick your style of rig and build it to suit your needs. Hopefully we'll see ya on the trails. :D

Sledneck I heard owning a jeep makes your internet penis bigger. is that why you own one?

The Jeep vs. Toyota thing has been going on forever and will never die. Toyota guys say Jeeps are gay and Jeep guys say Toyotas are gay. I own both, does that make me bi?

For the money you'll spend strengthening a 44, you'll still probably eventually break it. Just spend a little more and get a 60 now. Like stated earlier, a 60 is probably the last axle you'll ever buy.

I ran a 44 for a long time...

Always worried about the big bang...

It sucks being scared to do certain lines because of weak axles...

Won't be a problem any more...

I have done the turd polishing bit and managed to keep it up for a long time but I ended up spending waaay more than it was worth in the end I almost lost my life because of the polished turd:;. Hopefully we'll see ya on the trails, and not at the bottom of a 100 ft bank on your lid. :D
Edited for accuracy.:;
