MAY IT COMMENCE!

I THOUGHT IT WOULD NEVER START

This is the buildup of my '87 std. cab toy. A little history of this truck: it's my first vehicle. Bought it when I was a senior in high school. I was a dumbass, and rallied it out on fire roads and rolled it a couple times into a deep hole. It used to be a beautiful maroon, now its a two-tone piece of ****. It's stock besides a welded rear. That will change soon.

Specs: SAS, 2.28/4.7, 5.29, ARB/spool, longs, etc. etc. ...the typical toyota. Either way, I'm excited. This is my first build. I'm 20 years old, living on capitol hill going to school at seattle u, and my toy is in the garage in woodinville. In other words, this might take a while.

I started this diff back in march, and it was one of the first things I ever fabricated. I left it with just the plates welded on for a while and finished it off the other day.

This is how it looks now. I finally finished it up last night after it sat forever. I'm busy and lazy at the same time. This is going to be agonizingly slow for you guys. For that, I apologize.

ya dude im excited. ummm... i got em used from a guy on here actually. just a seller, not really a poster at all. cant remember his name, but got 'em cheap considering theyre damn near 2 g's a set. theyre in decent condition too. lets kick it some time man, i think we only chilled once at TJs that time.

what do you guys think of welding the diff studs into the housing so they dont pull through? i mean, thats kind of a hack job way of fixing the problem, just wondered if anyone else tacked in the studs to keep them from tearing out.

Hurry up you need to have it done by summer.Just take it to SU and park it at the campion loading dock area LOL.They wont care just tell Wayne II said it was allright.

haha hell yea wayne. im hoping for it to be done by april some time but who knows. i need a job. how you doin, man? feeling better? when you're back we should kick it. Oh i've got my fair share of parking debt with SU hahaha. ill drop your name and throw some fists.:haha: I bet i could find a couple 220v outlets in the garage or some facility at SU to hook up a welder and plasma hahaha.:awesomework:

i'm pondering inboarding the rear springs. good idea or bad idea? this rig is gonna be full bodied. it's not necessary, just something interesting i've pondered.

Pretty much finished the housing this weekend. Things are moving really slowwww. Made some 1/2" gussets for the knuckle balls. That took a while with just a cut off disc and no drill press.

I worked the overlap of the bottom plating I used for the shave into a trimmed TG front guard. Kinda stoked on how it turned out.

I also made a truss for the whole top of the axle. It's all 1/4".. Kinda overkill... but it's all I had at the time. Took a couple cut off discs and a long time, but I prefer spending my time building my own stuff and teaching myself how to fab than ordering it.:awesomework:
