F250 cheap truck build then and now!

Well I Started with this $10 Part truck that was for my Bronco, some of my friends convinced me to build it instead and use the Bronc for a DD. So I spent some time fixing the motor and tranny issues.

When I first signed on to NWW I had already chopped the bed down and cut the fenders back, installed a 4" roughcountry lift and traded up for a set of 38 TSL Tires. At this point I was only 1,200 dolors in the hole.

Sense then I've taken it out a couple times and wasn't happy with the TTB axle the truck had so of course it had to go. Luckly Brian d was selling a ball Joint Dana 60 with 4.10 gearing. The axle was clean and he and his friend helped load it up to take it home ($900 later) Thanks for your help Brian. So out with the old TTB 44 POS and in with the new hotness :cool:

Got the old girl sitting on the new axle found another area I get to cut up and weld in some gassets. That's the front drive lines clearance of the Transmission cross member. Well as you can see, too freaken close! :eeek:

Shortly after putting the 60 in, PUO form AWOR came over to my house, help me pull the rear diff carrier out of the Sterling 10.5 and weld up the spider gears for me. PUO you rock :awesomework:

And here is how she sits now, Dana 60 up front and welded Sterling 10.5 rear.

I will be taking it over the Ceg's place this weekend and put in on the articulation ramp to see how she does.

Oh yeah... to-date I've spent 2,500 on this build :cool:

I've got some tube work in store, I will keep you all posted. I can't wait to get it out and wheel with you guys in your neck of the woods... well, where she will fit.:awesomework:
 
that welded rear isn't going to hold, good lookin truck none the less! through some plate between those spider/center gears
 
You need to add welds here on both side of the carrier. That set up you have is not going to last.

Howdy Jason. Thanks for the parts this last week. I still haven't unloaded them from my cheap Ford.... haha.

Truck looks good, and you can't beat that price with a stick. What motor issues were you having with it when you got it? I'm seriously considering pulling the 460 in mine for a tear down and rebuild, with some head work and an RV spec cam and a whole re-do of the exhaust with some headers and complete duals all the way back. Just time and money I guess.

You need to add welds here on both side of the carrier. That set up you have is not going to last.

Thanks for the heads up on that. Hopefully it will last long enouph to get some money put together so I can change the gear in my axles and upgrade to some better lockers. I'm still new to this so the more info the better.

Glad you made it back home ok. :D

The motor issue include, rear main leak, two tranny leaks, warped exhaust manifold (burned the crap out of the plug wires), needed new radiator hoses and it had a minor power steering leak. When it was all said and done I spent 275 dollars. :awesomework: Most of that was the cost to have the exhaust manifold machined... It took me a couple of weeks to get it all fix but saved a tone of cash in the long run.
 
Lay some weld where Brian indicated or you will lose R&P when them welds break....And they will break been down that road. Still a nice rig on the cheap tho....:awesomework:

Let me know if your interested but i am more the willing to throw an extra couple welds onto that carrier:awesomework: I dont know where u are located but I live in Burien and Duvall, So I can pretty much meet ya anywhere or I could bring my mobile setup and do it for ya whereever even in a parking lot if you want:cool:

Love the truck tho man! I miss my fullsize so much:booo:

So I decided to get rid of the flat bed and put a Chevy box on the back of my Ford. Thought I wouls share a few pics of my build.

1st. Pic was me brain storming what the truck would look like.


Pics 2 and 3 are of my little helper (Abigail) who helped me take out the body lift and put some paint on the truck. She was having a blast as you can see.

Pics 4 and 5 are of the bed mocked up and some steel layed in place to give me an idea of what is was going to look like. It actually took a lot long putting the rear tub together so that is would fit on a Ford frame. But was worth it in the long run.

I picked up a bumper real cheap and spent a few day cleaning it up and a couple more putting it on my truck. Not the meanest bumper but it will hold a winch.
