• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Keep it simple

Well got a lot done this week/weekend. Got the rear packs built. Got the brakelines, driveline spacers, z-link installed. Torqued everything down, got the brakes bleed. Then got to do some driveway posing:D Got the steel Saturday to build my shock mounts so hopefully can get those knocked out this week. Getting very close to wheeling. Felt good to drive it today. Also want to toss a thanks out to Derrick(fordzuk) for building the z-link and tcase bucket for me:awesomework: Also tossed a 31" on there to check for clearance. Will need 33's:redneck:

Got motivated tonight and pulled the tcase to install the tcase bucket. Fordzuki did a killer job! I need to go smash it on something:redneck:

Well I was just sitting in the garage drinking a beer thinking about what I should do before I go wheeling again this weekend. Then a light bulb went off:happy

First I really needed to add some tow points for gear in the back for when the rear seat is out. So I took some bolts and big fender washers. Welded them together and WALA. Anchor points!

Then I was sitting there looking at my hilift that I just lay accross the back and figured theres got to be an easy way to mount it. So I had some 1/2" all thread laying around and did work.

Started with a piece where the brace meets the roll bar.

Then I have a box of laser cut tabs. Took another piece of allthread and plug welded it into the tab.

Then gotta make it flat. So I did some fancy finish grinding:cool:

At this point I notice my shop dog is starin me down :redneck:
000_0021-1.jpg
My boxer is a puss and was hiding around the corner:haha:
So back to work. Now that I had the thread welded to the tab I could weld it to the body. The tabs purpose served as some support to the sheet metal.

With everything tacked, make sure the hilift goes on nice and easy. If it does then burn it up.
Then you got a nice and secure hi lift mount on the cheap :bling:

Tomorrow Ill pick up some fender washers and wing nuts

So after wheeling the piss out of it this summer and winter on stock gears and 33's. The stock clutch finally gave in. So its in the garage for some maintence. Pulled the t-case and tranny. Gonna give them a good pressure wash. Also gonena take care of the leaky rear main and oil pan at the same time. Have to split the t-case to install the 6.5 gears. Also got new rubber to replace the racing slicks I was working with:redneck: Have to clean the wheels and give them a good coat of paint. Still need to order my twin stick. Then when its back together its getting a long over due cage:cheer: Then its ready for opening day at Evans:cool:

what is this maintenance you speak of?
and did i miss something, you got new tires. 6 of them but i only see 4 wheels are you adding a set?:D

nice lil rig!

Hey, While yer in there, and the back of the motor's easy to access....pull the dizzy mount on the back of the head, and replace the oring that's supposed to seal it to the head....they are NOTORIOUS for leaking, giving the ILLUSION of the rear main, or oil pan leaking back there....:;

The oil leaks, I hate oil leaks! Also I never did replace the timing belt when I bought it. Might as well do that to. Have fuel injection to put on, but that can wait.

As for the rubber, gotta have a spare. Then I just have one extra....wanna buy it:D

Good call, forgot about that one. Add that to the list:cool:

Started on installing the 6.5 tcase gears tonight. Don't have a press at home so was only able to get the output shaft built. Going to take the 2 case halfs and input shaft to work with me. Throw the case in the parts washer and press off the old bearings. Should have it reassembled tomorrow night:cool:

Also got my wheels looking pretty so Ill load those up in the morning with my tires so I can mount those. Then when my clutch shows up I can put everything back together and go wheeling:cheer:

So I spent Saturday getting the rear main, clutch, tranny, tcase and drivelines in. Was so nice to be able to drive it under its own power. The 6.5 gears in the case are such and improvement(thanks again XOFAB). Cant wait to use them this weekend.
I purchased one of Harbor Freights new Badland winches. Has a series wound motor and reviews seem to be good. Its the 6k model which should be ample for my little sammy. Since it is a smaller winch I had to drill two holes in the winch plate and modify the fairlead mount. Got it all mounted and wired and pulled it up my driveway. Its not the fastest winch, but its better than no winch. Ill have a good review of it after next weekend im sure:redneck:

Also got my cb mounted and wires ran. I went over to Nick C place to pick up a drill press and while I was there he was generous and also gave me a cb antenna mount(thanks again Nick). So just need to fix some lights, and put my new shocks in the rear and its ready to go. Cage gets started April 13th:cheer:

So a lot has happened. Wheeled the unholy piss out of it this past spring and summer. Lots of good memories:cool: Then about a month or so ago a few of us from the board and club did a night run at Evans. Were were having an absolute blast. Decided to hit up the 197 trail. About half way up the trail my little sammi rearend said f*ck you:redneck: Broke a shaft(or so I thought?). Had to get towed out and limpedback to the trailer.

So because if this little adventure I decided it was time for another upgrade:cheer: Picked up a toy front, waiting to pick up my rear. Going zip lockers f&r, and trail-gear everything:D Sold the 33's and plan to go with a slightly bigger swamper tire. Vehicle is going to a good friend end of the month for the jungle gym to be installed:cool: Hopefully i'll have it done in time for some snow wheeling this season.

Heres the damage:cool:
