Hello! I am looking to buy a rig off craigslist and had a question about it. Its a 1981 Toyota pick up with a chevy 350, turbo 350, 205 tcase, and 39" iroks on stock axles. How likely is it that I will snap axles? should I immediately upgrade them? Looks like a nice rig overall, but the stock axles with the upgrades is a little concerning. The guy has taken it wheeling with no issues, ad I have heard the same thing from others, yet ive also been told that that kind of setup will instantly snap the stock yota axles. This rig also does not have power steering, how hard would that be to setup/install, and would that be a costly add on? I need some help! thanks in advance!

Here is the CL ad for more info..

The answer on how the axles will hold up would depend on how you use the rig. Do you normally beat the piss out of your rig or do you drive it like grandma?

I will never understand why people small block Toyotas....

Longfields will be your best bet!

Exactly....You lose the great handling of a light weight nose, shitty fuel consumption and nowhere near as reliable or good on trails not to mention a drivetrain killer.

This rig had stock toyota axles and a small block and a th400 with 4.10 gears. Never once broke any axle components and I beat the living piss out of it. But... It was not on 39's Probably a little lighter also.
